UPDATEJune 27, 2026

Patch #10 Deep Dive: Formation Saving, Avatar Nerf, Tournament Fixes

Unfrozen shipped Olden Era Patch #10 (v0.80.24) on June 18, delivering one of the most requested quality-of-life features: unit formations are now saved between battles in the tactics phase. Your army layout persists for the next fight against neutral enemies — no more repetitive repositioning. The patch fixes a tournament template bug where moving units in the final seconds could cause creatures to duplicate or vanish. The Ambassador's Word set effect, which was not triggering, is now fixed. On balance, the Avatar spell damage was reduced from scaling 20-20 to a flat 12-12 across all levels — Unfrozen calls this a temporary fix ahead of a larger balance update. Additional fixes address Hotseat UI errors, Necromancy tooltip bugs, and a connection loss window that now requires confirmation before exiting. Formation saving is per-hero and applies to standard neutral battles only.

Patch #10: Formation Saving & Bug Fixes

Unfrozen Studio deployed Patch #10 for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, introducing Tactics Phase formation saving — players can now save and load up to 5 custom unit formations per faction, dramatically reducing pre-battle setup time. This is especially valuable for multiplayer where the tactics timer is limited. The patch also fixes a rare crash when loading save files with Temple faction heroes above level 15, a visual glitch affecting Dungeon dual-attack animations, and a pathfinding issue on certain Arena maps. Olden Era is currently 25% off on Steam, and the community meta continues to evolve — early consensus places Necropolis and Temple in S/A tiers, while Hive remains a high-skill-cap niche pick. Unfrozen Studio confirmed additional factions and campaign acts are in development for future updates.
